A Lifeline for the Community

A new borehole at Magoola Primary School now provides safe drinking water for over 800 people, including 613 students, teachers, and 200 community members. This project, commissioned on September 16, 2023, by the Rotary Clubs of Ntinda and Bugiri, alleviates the burden of fetching water from distant sources.

Despite the increased strain from community use, the borehole has significantly improved access to clean water. Bugiri District Local Government praised Rotary for addressing critical water and sanitation needs in five schools, especially since the district’s budget constraints prevented the construction of latrines this financial year.

A water and sanitation management committee has been established to maintain the facility. The community erected a protective fence around the borehole, welded a lock to regulate use, and provided containers and mugs to ensure safe and efficient water usage. The contractor’s final report has been submitted to the Rotary Club of Ntinda.
